Twins Days Festival - Twinsburg, Ohio

More than 1,700 sets of registered twins or multiples and their families attended the 35th annual Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio the weekend of Aug. 5-7, 2011.

The attendance record was about the same as 2010.

The annual festival—considered the largest gathering of twins and multiples in the world by the Guiness Book of World Records—attracts twins and multiples from all over the United States and the world. . .some from as far away as Japan!

The first festival took place in 1976 in the Twinsburg town square with 37 sets of twins in attendance.

It has grown each year with, at times, more than 2,500 sets of twins and multiples attending and was filmed in 2005 by the Discovery Health Channel.

Twins Days 2011: Twins Circus featured the traditional "double-take" parade, twins contests, a twin talent show, on-site tests and clinicals in the research area, and more.

Many of the twins and multiples dressed up together for the circus theme on Saturday and Sunday.

Most twins and multiples who attend year after year agree the best part of the festival is spending time socializing, making new friends and catching up with old acquaintances. My twin daughter Nikki summed it up best at her first festival, glancing over at her twin sister and saying, "Rory, we're home."

The Twins Day festival is open to all multiples—identical, fraternal, young and old, twins, triplets, quads—and their families. It takes place the first full weekend of August each year. For 2012, that's August 3, 4 and 5.
