It's 3 a.m. and I just have to pee, NOW!
My first travel experience while pregnant with the twins was when I didn't even know I was pregnant!!
My family was on our annual trip to Hilton Head Island with my in-laws. After two miscarriages in 6 months time, "baby" was always on the brain. We were trying again, but my period wasn't due until the END of our trip, so I was trying not to think about it.
All week, I noticed my mother-in-law giving me a once over every time I was in a bathing suit. I was a bit annoyed. After what my body had been through in the last 10 months (being pregnant twice!), I didn't think I looked bad!
On our drive home, I couldn't stand the wait any longer. I am not even sure what state we were in when I made my husband search for a drugstore so I could buy a HPT. We found a Walmart, and I tucked the test away in my bag for the next morning.
I woke up early, early in the morning at a hotel in West Virginia where we had stopped for the night. I had to pee. Bad. I could not fall back to sleep. I decided to get up (it was like 3 a.m.) and take the test. I'd have an empty bladder and be able to go back to sleep! Ha!
That test turned positive in a flash! Way faster than any of my other tests. The thought of twins never crossed my mind, though. My sister had identical twins, but there were NO other twins in my family!
I started blood work the next day to check my HCG levels, which were through the roof and multiplying like crazy. The following week, I had my ultrasound...."You have twins!"
